Privacy & saved data
This page describes the research service operated by CapitalTimeMachine.
Your account and research
Sign-in supplies your account identity. The account page displays your name and email. Saved research stores an account identifier, title, calculation inputs and displayed results, assumptions, source links, company overviews or AI prompts, and timestamps. Existing IPO snapshots also retain their source evidence and method versions. These records let you reopen the information you saved.
If a save requires sign-in, the pending calculation or page is temporarily kept in this tab’s sessionStorage so you can finish saving it afterward. It is removed after a successful save or when the tab closes, and drafts older than 24 hours are not restored. Pending drafts are not account saves.
Archiving hides an analysis from your active list; it does not delete it. You can permanently delete individual analyses from Saved research, including archived analyses. Deleted records are removed from the active research database; downloaded copies remain wherever you saved them. Saved research has no automatic expiry. Deletion from the active database does not guarantee immediate deletion from hosting-provider backups. We have not verified the provider’s backup retention period. Keep a downloaded receipt for research you need to preserve.
Company watchlist
Following a company stores its identifier, follow date, last viewed research revision and most recent watchlist visit in localStorage on this browser. It does not sync to your account or send email. Remove a company in Saved research to delete its entry; removing the last company clears the watchlist record. Clearing site data also removes it. When a followed watchlist is revisited after 7–30 days, we may count that return as an aggregate action under the measurement settings below. This is not a count of unique people or a full retention cohort.
Usage events
Public research downloads and MCP tools have separate daily counters for the resource/tool name and a broad client category. User-agent names are unverified claims. These counters store no request body, search query, investment input, IP address or account identifier. They respect Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control when supplied, and records older than 90 days are deleted on the next measured resource request. Tool inputs are processed to return a result but are not saved to a research account. Hosting providers may separately keep operational logs. AI assistants process information you give them under their own policies.
We measure public page views, visible-page engagement after 30 seconds, and calculator and sharing actions using a random browser-session identifier in sessionStorage. It expires after 30 minutes of inactivity or when the tab closes. These are estimated sessions, not unique people. Events include the public page path, a broad referral-source category and an approved campaign label. We do not store full referring URLs, URL queries, IP addresses, search text or investment amounts in these traffic events, and do not join the session identifier to your account. Signed-in owner activity is excluded. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control disable this measurement; storage-disabled browsers are not measured. Records older than 90 days are deleted on the next recorded traffic request.
Calculator activity is also counted in daily totals for signed-out and signed-in visitors. These totals store only the day, action name and count—not personal identifiers, IP addresses, investment amounts or search text. Action names may include a company from our fixed launch collection and affiliate-link clicks. This counter sets no cookies and respects Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control where signaled. Totals older than 90 days are removed on the next recorded event. Hosting providers may separately keep operational logs.
The service records signed-in research action names and timestamps, linked to your account. These events exclude search text, investment amounts and company selections. Events older than 90 days are removed when your account next records activity, rather than on a fixed daily schedule.
Hosting and sign-in providers also process information needed to operate their services. This site does not use third-party advertising tracking scripts.
Company requests
When you choose Request a company, we save the company name or ticker you explicitly submit, the search area, a random request identifier and the submission time. We use these requests to prioritize research and review daily demand. No email address or account is required. Please do not enter personal information. Ordinary search text is not saved. A request identifier is kept in this browser’s sessionStorage to prevent repeat clicks from counting again during the same day. Request records older than 90 days are removed on the next submission. Only the site owner can view the request queue.
Research Pro and external links
If you register interest in Research Pro, the site stores the offer version, proposed price and timestamps against your account. Withdrawing interest records the withdrawal; it does not erase the record. Live paid subscriptions are not enabled.
Following a source or affiliate link takes you to another provider, whose privacy practices apply there. Affiliate destinations can use referral tracking. See our research and affiliate disclosures.
Privacy requests
